Practical information Argentina

Planning a trip to Argentina requires anticipating a few essential points. Max and our English-speaking team, based directly in Buenos Aires, guide and advise you at every step to build a tailor-made trip, adapted to your wishes.

Regarding formalities, French, Belgian and Swiss nationals can enter Argentina without a visa for a tourist stay of up to 90 days. A valid passport is required.

Regarding health, no vaccines are mandatory to enter Argentina. However, it is recommended to be up to date with universal vaccinations.

The local currency is the Argentine peso, whose exchange rate can fluctuate rapidly. Max and our team provide you with updated exchange information and explain the different payment options simply, particularly with foreign bank cards and various exchange rates.

Since Argentina is a vast country, its climate varies considerably from one region to another. The north enjoys a warmer climate, while Patagonia experiences cooler temperatures and sometimes strong winds. The best time therefore depends on your itinerary: we help you choose the regions and seasons best suited to your travel plans.

For travel, the domestic air network makes it easy to connect major destinations, including Buenos Aires, El Calafate, Ushuaia, Salta and Iguazú. Long-distance buses, very comfortable, as well as car rentals on certain routes, complement transport options.

Finally, regarding safety, Argentina remains an accessible and pleasant destination for travelers, with the usual precautions to take in major cities, particularly in certain neighborhoods of Buenos Aires.

With Max and our team, you benefit from local and English-speaking support: we know the country perfectly and advise you with a personalized approach, to transform your trip to Argentina into an authentic, seamless and unforgettable experience.

Frequently asked questions

The answers to the most frequently asked questions from our travellers.

For French, Belgian, Swiss, and Canadian nationals, no visa is required for a tourist stay of less than 90 days. A simple valid passport, ideally valid for six months after your return date, is sufficient. Upon arrival at Ezeiza airport or any other entry point, a stamp is affixed to your passport, indicating the authorized duration. No prior procedures are necessary, no online form or tax required. If you extend your stay, a 90-day extension is possible through the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones in Buenos Aires. Remember to keep your entry stamp and travel with insurance covering medical expenses.

No vaccine is mandatory to enter Argentina from France or Belgium. We recommend being up to date on universal vaccines: diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, whooping cough, hepatitis B and measles. Hepatitis A is advised for most travelers. Yellow fever is recommended if you visit Iguazu Falls and Misiones province, or if you combine your trip with the Brazilian Amazon. No malaria in Argentina. Dengue circulates episodically in the north during the austral summer; insect repellent is sufficient. A consultation with a doctor or at an international vaccination center six weeks before departure allows you to adjust recommendations based on your itinerary and health profile.

For a tailor-made trip to Argentina with our agency, expect between 150 and 250 € per day and per person excluding international flights, in the comfort category. This budget includes accommodation in charming hotels or estancias, private transfers, domestic flights (often essential to El Calafate or Ushuaia, 150 to 250 € per segment), English-speaking guides and main activities. Restaurant meals in Buenos Aires cost 20-40 € per person in a good parrilla. A decent bottle of malbec can be found for 8-15 €. Price differences are significant between Patagonia (more expensive) and the northwest (more affordable). We adjust according to your pace and comfort level.

Argentina can be visited year-round, but each region has its own season. Patagonia (El Calafate, El Chaltén, Bariloche, Ushuaia) is open from October to April, with a peak in December–February and notable winds in November. Buenos Aires is pleasant from October to May, avoiding the humid heat of January–February. The northwest (Salta, Jujuy) is best explored from April to November during the dry season, with cool nights at altitude. Mendoza is beautiful from October to April, with grape harvest in March. The Valdés Peninsula offers whales from June to December. For a comprehensive circuit combining regions, October–November and March–April are the most versatile windows.

The country stretches 3,700 km from north to south, distances are long and domestic flights are often essential. Aerolíneas Argentinas and Flybondi serve Buenos Aires, El Calafate, Ushuaia, Salta, Mendoza, Bariloche and Puerto Madryn in 2 to 3 hours. Long-distance buses, known as camas or semi-camas, offer excellent comfort on regional routes (Mendoza, Bariloche, Salta). Car rental works well in the lake region, in Mendoza or for Route 40 in Patagonia, but Patagonian roads are sometimes ripio (gravel). We systematically arrange private transfers in town and between stages to free you from logistics.

Argentina is globally a peaceful destination for travelers and ranks among the safest countries in Latin America. In Buenos Aires, standard precautions apply: stay alert in non-touristy areas of La Boca, Retiro, and Constitución, especially at night. Avoid displaying jewelry or phones on the street, and use official taxis or apps like Cabify. The tourist regions of Patagonia, Mendoza, Salta, and Iguazú are very safe. Roads are adequate but distances call for caution. Our team in Buenos Aires remains available 24/7 during your trip and can advise you on local customs according to the areas you visit.
